How the entry of Tesla affect the Indian EV market?

The electronic vehicle market is growing rapidly throughout the world, and now India is also letting in electric vehicles to its automobile market. Recently the renowned American electric vehicle company Tesla has announced that it will begin its operations in India.

Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister of road transport and highways, also said that the electric vehicle company would most probably arrive in early 2021. Tesla was looking to enter one of the biggest markets of the world back in 2016 but was unable because of the infrastructure issues of India. Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc., said that the company will first start with sales of the finished products and if demand arises, then it will start assembling in India.

The news for the entry of Tesla has already hiked the electric vehicle market in India. The current automobile companies like Tata Motors, Hyundai, Kia, MG, etc., have started focusing on the EV unit and are planning to increase the production. The only way these can make a difference in the market is by reducing the price of the vehicle because the models Tesla is planning to launch in India is going to start from 55 to 60 Lakhs.

Which are the Models that Tesla is planning to launch in India?

The cars that Tesla is willing to launch will be a completely built-in unit, which means that it will include higher import duties; according to sources, the price of the cars in India will be almost double the price in America. The models that will be launched are:

Tesla Model 3- Model 3 is a sedan that goes almost 423 km in a single charge and has claimed the power to touch 0-100km/hr in just 3 seconds with a top speed of 261km/hr. The model comes with an immensely sized touch screen of 15 inches where all the essential information and entertainment details will be flashed. It also has a 14 speaker sound system that will make the driving experience even more exciting.

Tesla Model S - The Tesla Model S is also a sedan but with better mechanics and design. This particular model is a flagship one it has beaten the Mercedes Benz S class, Audi 8 series and the BMW 7 in various markets of the world and probably has a higher demand than other cars. It’s fabulous design and power to reach the speed of 100km/hr in just 2.5 seconds makes it a gem.

Tesla Model X- the Tesla Model X is one of the fastest SUVs in the world. It can go up to 475kms just in a single charge and has the power to reach 100km/hr in just 2.9 seconds. The Model X comes in three variants the five seaters, six seaters and the seven-seaters.

The entry of Tesla in India is also a piece of good news for the Battery Industry. The entry of Tesla will increase the demand for electric vehicles, which will directly influence the market of the Lithium-ion batteries. Industries related to automobiles will see a hike in Job opportunities, which is currently a good debating topic in India.
